Biomimicry or biomimetics is the examination of nature, its models, systems, processes, and elements to emulate or take inspiration from in order to solve human problems. The term biomimicry and biomimetics come from the Greek words bios, meaning life, and mimesis, meaning to imitate.

Happy New Beginning

As a website owner, this is the famous time of the year in which we’re all busy updating the various Privacy Policies and changing the year from 2020 to 2021. I can even hear the sound of keyboards being ticked.

I took the chance today to spend a different type of Sunday afternoon sipping a warm coffee with the company of my son to have a dialogue about what to change, add, and remove from the website. We spent a few hours sharing views about the current state of the world of the Internet and Marketing. Some were more philosophical, almost existential, some were less serious but practical nonetheless. We often carry out these conversations.

These types of conversations, which in the business world tend to be considered ‘unproductive’, always open the space for a better understanding of us and who we truly are deep down because, in essence, we are not trying to convince the other or win an argument but to engage at a personal level as if we were friends in front of a campfire. Real campfire.

I think this is the type of engagement that people have longed for the most throughout 2020.

As a result, I decided to update ‘about’ and to add a new page ‘What Is’ to explain more, but not too much, the meaning behind Intermundi®. It represented a way to also remind myself of the milestones reached throughout a troublesome year like 2020 to add up to all the previous steps taken in the last few years. Through Dialogue and Reflection.

Wishing myself, my loved ones, and all of you a Happy New Beginning.

The Direction of the Wind

There are things we cannot change and things we can change. To understand the difference is vital. If I were to summarise a year which is about to end, I would define this year as probably one of the most important years of my life. For my education, personal development, and professional growth.

To be going through perimenopause, to rebuild a new life in a foreign country, and to live through a pandemic brought me to practice in person all that I’ve learnt and taught on the field for the last 30 years. To approach with a different culture and way of living as well. Particularly during this time, we have been facing our personal limits while participating in a market that is changing.

I gave myself permission to become a Beginner again. Few among us have never lived through a pandemic and this affected not only our market but also the ways of living the daily life and to face a more limited world to transfer everything to a virtual plane. I am a people person and I had difficulties. Challenges I overcame by bringing all of my attention to my true skills, heart’s desires and increasing my silence while resetting my life and work. I opened doors where there were none and shut others. I re-educated myself in many areas and set a new routine in a different manner compared to the past.

This year has been more effective and enabling than any other moment in my life. Especially in the realms of self-awareness and knowledge (that is part of my work) . Also, I received confirmation that the decisions I made in the past represented the best decisions I could take. So, I removed myself from the equation which includes the variable of following the herd. I followed exclusively the rhythm of my inner music and timing rather than the external temporary trends and planned specific actions to take in preparation for Brexit.

I put myself at the centre with all my skills to be best equipped to face this unprecedented unknown which will last, as more things will change. And we don’t have power on everything, only our decisions. I’ve been often told that lone wolves don’t survive, that being together is fundamental to face such adversities. Partially true, partially untrue. You can be community only if you know who you are and not who you are as part of a number of notions and ideas coming from the outside. Each one of us wears the size that fits for us, what is right for us, not others’ sizes.

This website is undertaking a transformation as its trademark is. Both are me and I am continuously transforming.

My wish for the new year is to truly meet yourselves and all the shades of grey in between.

The pandemic didn’t erase: family, real friends, music, outdoors, reading, singing, nature, wildlife, countryside, laughing, wise people, hope, education, music, hope again, elders.

Let’s embrace what we have.

I spent a lot of time observing nature, people, myself, and the noise around me. 

I isolated myself, I muted myself as requested with zero explanations, knowing that there were people around who needed space and voice. 

Some was noise with no purpose other than noise, some were very wise and I started following their feeble voice. They have a website with an old html, they hardly appear in google searches and I love these voices, because I listen to the vibrations, not the words. 

As I said, I have 'skills'.

There is a time to make irony, there is a time to laugh at irony, there is a time to find out when all this becomes offensive to personal and other people's choices.

In this case, moving away is recognising the freedom of the eagle.

At that point you get on your horse and together with your drum that beats with your heart, you gallop away, you fly away with the eagle carrying with you all the values ​​of a better world.

We are all in a captive world but some people have the key to raise up in the sky, where eagles fly near the Sun.

These months have been one of the most precious gifts of my entire life, it’s so comfortable to realise that the world goes on with or without me.
